Genesis Outline Part I

Genesis 1:1 to 2:3

I. God is creator
1. First Day: light, day, night - verses 3-5
2. Second Day: firmament - verses 6-8
3. Third Day: earth, seas, plant life - verses 9-13
4. Fourth Day: sun, moon, stars - verses 14-19

II. God created all living things
1. Fifth Day: water animals, flying animals - verses 20-23
2. Sixth Day: land animals, man - verses 24-31

III. God created man in His own image. - verses 26-28
1. His ability to have fellowship and communion with God.
2. The privilege of making moral choices, exercising proper authority over God's creation.
3. Possessing spiritual powers which enable him to see beyond himself.

IV. God's creation was good, so God rested. Genesis 1:31-2:3
1. God's creation was good, 6 times - good. verses 4, 10,12,18,21,25
2. Seventh time, it was VERY good. verse 31
3. Seventh day: Rested - verse 2
4. He blessed and sanctified the seventh day.

Truths:
1. The creation has a Creator.
2. Man is made in God's image and is, therefore, a special creative work.
3. God made man for fellowship with Him.
4. All God's creation is good.
5. Man is to have dominion over his world.
6. Maturing includes an enlarging concept of God.
7. Man needs a day of rest and worship.
8. Everything God did in His creative work had purpose.
