Introduction: In these difficult days when religions are hanging by a bare thread, and their leaders are tossed about by every false wind that blows; while most of the trumpets of the pulpit are giving uncertain sound and the storm clouds of liberalism continue to rise; it's good to have an anchor that holds. Our anchor holds because it is secured by the following:
I. The eternal word of God's scriptures - verse 18
a. Light to guide us in the way of righteousness
b. Fire to burn and birth us into God's family
c. Sword to pierce and judge us
II. The everlasting sacrifice of Christ the Savior. - Hebrews 1:3
a. Satisfied the Father's requirements
b. Shed His blood for the sinner's substitute
c. Settled the sin question for the time and eternity
III. The exalted position of the Son - Philippians 2:9-11
a. A position above all others
b. A place no one else can occupy
c. A people no one else can claim
IV. The entering within the veil of the Sanctuary - verse 19
a. Behind the veil to free us
b. Before the Father to favor us
c. Because of Calvary to forgive us
V. The excessive power of God supernatural - 1 Chronicles 29:11
a. Almighty in scope of power
b. Absolute in sovereignty and purity
c. Administered for our daily provisions
VI. The endowment of our great salvation - Hebrews 9:14-15
a. His character and claim
b. His cross our credit
c. His crown our confidence
VII. The experience of the believing sinner - 2 Timothy 1:12
a. I know that Christ saves and satisfies
b. I know that the Spirit seals and sanctifies
c. I know that the Scriptures are sufficient
